I'm new so can someone explain if this fire is under control in 38 minutes but it takes Engine 64 at least 20 minutes to get from Castle Hill to Engine 42s quarters isn't that a long way to go only to turn around and head back.

Dispatchers cant fully anticipate how quickly it will go under control, or how long units may operated even after the under control.

Also, just because the fire is U/C doesn’t mean units are going 10-8 immediately. Packing hose, coming out of building, tools away etc. takes time and by then the relocator may be used.

20 Minutes by Google maps doesn't really include Lights and Sirens. But depending on how big the job is you can have Second Alarms handled in 10-30 minutes or a 8th Alarm that can take the whole tour. (Can someone confirm if they still use the 9x and the 6x or is it just 24h?)

My guess is if they had the high-rise nozzle and were up in the building, they can be at least 20 minutes coming down and get back to their rig. There are a bunch of variables to relocations.

Let’s not forget we are a UNION organization that should always “take time” when we get back to quarters after every job to wash up and get the rig back in order. No companies should be going 10-8 immediately after a job.
