I did my fire service work in a small residential community. We had maybe 3 elevators in the whole district. I am always awed (and impressed) when the FDNY responds to these power outage calls with stuck elevators. It really is an emergency when it's this hot out. It's a major undertaking, sometimes spread out over a few block area. Coordination is key and they even end up setting up a command post. I'm sure 99% of you reading this are well aware of the challenges these incidents produce, but for me being from a small town, I still am fascinated every time one of these incidents occur.
