I thought the satellite operated as a manifold itself. In the video I saw them deploy the portable manifold. is that standard operating procedure?

Just going by pictures of the satellites both past and present I don't see any small discharges on them. Just 4 ldh intakes for the guns on top. Using the portable manifold makes more sense since you can walk it between trucks over hose into places you cant get a rig. The truck itself is more to transport ldh and occasionally use the deck gun.

The two gun batteries are still there. One has an observation deck on top with great 360 views. They were covered with sand for camouflage. They look just like small hills.
The beach along the fort has no lifeguards. Tends to attract "naturalists".

I think the term is "naturists". Naturalists are something else altogether. The observation deck is very good for naturalists.
