Each borough (excluding Staten Island) has 2 Division Chiefs. As a rule of thumb, if both divisions in any borough get tied up for an extended period, a Division Chief is relocated to the borough. I say as a rule of thumb, because if one is coming close to concluding operations at one incident when the second incident occurs, it may not be done. Common sense and dispatcher discretion come into play.

Question: Who decides which Division will be relocated? I assume it’s taken out of the Decision Dispatcher’s hands and goes to either the Supervising Dispatcher or even the on-duty chief dispatcher. Maybe even the FDOC. Any one in the know?

Doesn't happen very often though!

I am not even sure how often a Division gets a ticket in another Division for something like a 10-75
