Fire at Veranda House (built 1684) in downtown. Appears to have spread to at least nearby house. All NFD personal on scene.

NFD has 24 career firefighters and 12 on-call. NFD has arrangements with Cape Cod Departments for Mutual Aid if called upon.

The “slow boat” ferry tbat would take trucks to the island takes around 90 mins. The “fast ferry takes about 45 mins.

This info is coming 2nd hand to me but I believe the Steam Ship Authority just puts the trucks on the next available.

I stayed away from town yesterday but understood Hy lines brought over manpower on their fast ferries
