BxD: we have report of construction site, ceiling collapse - R3 & S61 assigned

BxD: now receiving shed collapse on boardwalk, 1 worked removed, 2 workers still inside

B20 gave All Hands - (1) priority patient, (1) patient being evaluated

“Today units responded to reports of two construction workers trapped. Upon arrival our Orchard Beach EMS Unit encountered two patients who were trapped under a large piece of concrete ceiling. The dimension was about 20’ x 15’, which had fallen upon them. Our fire units Squad 61, Ladder 61 and Engine 97 responded, packaged the patients, assisted with medical care, and removed them via Ladder 61 aerial ladder. Both Patients were taken to Jacobi Hospital in serious but stable condition. In the summertime we have an EMS Unit posted here on the beach, they do a wonderful job for us and take care of any patients we may encounter on the beach. Being that this is a remote location this aides us much,” said FDNY Deputy Chief Kenneth Scanlon, from the scene of a ceiling collapse this morning in the Bronx.
“We were flagged down by the construction crew. They stated that a collapse had occurred. We grabbed our equipment and made our way up to the top floor where we encountered two patients that had been hit by the collapsing concrete ceiling. My partner and I started to remove the concrete off of both patients and began to treat them. A large part of the concrete ceiling was still precariously hanging. We advised the construction workers to evacuate the building and requested additional resources,” said FDNY EMT Kyle Barbaria, who along with his partner EMT Carmen Ruiz helped to rescue two workers after they were struck by a falling concrete ceiling."
