Fire Location: 11th Ave & W 42nd St

Rescue 1 reports a member was struck by a vehicle & needed to be extricated while operating at an incident

I hope injuries are not serious. Prayers for a full and speedy recovery

In a terrible twist of fate this incident comes just 2 days short of another MVA involving a Rescue 1 member (July 19th 2006). Rescue 1 FF John Walters was hit by a taxi and pinned whilst standing at the back of Rescue 1

Thankfully he survived but with life changing injuries.

Thoughts are with him and the injured FF this evening and wishing him/her a speedy recovery.

Same Firefighter from R-1 that made water rescue last week. Father and Grandfather were firefighters at L114. I worked with his father at L131 before he transferred to L114. Remember him as a young lad, pray for his recovery.

That could have been a lot worse. There must have been at least couple of still armed air bags in that BMW passenger compartment.

I can say after Years in the Collision Business that MD's are Notoriously Dangerous Drivers in NYC.
