I'm curious about something. In order in Howard Beach to Cross Bay and 165 Ave, it's 331, 285, 225. How does that switch when they run to the Rockaways to 331 225 and 285? Just seems strange. Noticed that several times now so it's not a 1 off event.

Where I’m in in Howard beach, 225 seems to be always second due. I guess they come down Linden to the conduit and right on cross bay, while 285 has to turn onto Crossbay near further north 🤷‍♂️

Difficult fire. Heat and humidity caused a "negative stack effect". Smoke went down instead of up. Zero visibility conditions on 1st and 2nd floor into lobby. Companies had a hard time hooking up and making it to the apartment. Several maydays transmitted. Quite a few ran out of air and had to make it to the stairs.
But it got done.

There are a few instances of that in bronx/manhattan too. A bridge box gets whatever companies….but buildings on the other side of that bridge get companies who are 3rd or 4th due to that bridge, before the companies that are 1st due. Makes zero sense.

225 has 1st and 2nd due boxes in lindenwood.
On the east side of the belt 225 goes to 3rd due
all the way into hamilton and then to 165 ave

142 goes from 2nd due in HB to fast truck into broad channel, and then 107 is ahead of them into the rockaways.

331/173 has an odd response area to begin with. Forgetting the area is made from bedrock, they have a relatively small first due, and an even smaller 2nd due. They seem to see more fire in other areas compared to their own. But that's just my observation.

Makes zero sense to me either. When the units get dispatched, together, 285 and 142 are still going to end up in front of 225 and 107. The only possible reason I can see, is that individually, sending 225/107 before 285/142 is to keep the relocations down. With 285 and 142 in qtrs, they can still cover 331/173 and 225/107. Little bit of stretch for Brooklyn but 142 is over there fairly frequently. But as a full alarm, 285/142 hands down will be infront of 225/107 any day under normal conditions.
