228 Kingdom Avenue (blocks away from me, too bad I was working)

Battalion 23 using All-Hands for fire on the first floor of a 2 story PD

Fire started in the kitchen, extended to the rear of the second floor causing damage and a heavy smoke condition

Off-duty firefighter and son next door made a grab of the homeowner through the 2nd floor window with a portable ladder before companies arrived

Ladder then gave way, sending all 3 on a fall down - taken to SIUH

30 cats and 7 dogs were inside at the time, 1 cat and 1 dog found dead

EMTs treated other cats with O2

I know this was a while ago, but I came across this quick 40 second amateur video of the fire shot by a neighbor.

Video shows the beginning of the job with the first due companies arriving. You can also see off-duty fire Cpt. from E168 on the roof of house helping his neighbor down with a ladder.

Look closely at :03-:05 second mark to see when firefighters from E164 open the front door, you'll see a small plume of smoke come out as they enter with the line. You can also see 2nd due 87 truck pulling up.

Looks like this job was cookin', judging from the thick smoke coming from the back.
