8/14/10 Brooklyn - Unusual Incident

First of all did you notice the "old school" guys really respect their wives. My wife and I went up to Nashua NH for a fall week-end with the leaves and all. We walked into a mall and the first store was a pet store. She went in and fell in love with a puppy. He was a collie mix. We brought him but my wife wanted to keep him warm. I had a BFD jacket that reeked of smoked, ran a lot of jobs. I asked my wife what his name was and she said: smell his coat, SMOKY! So that is how I got Smokey Guys I am not a marriage counselor but take take of the ones who love us.

That's a Great story "Grump'. I sure hope the "new school" guys appreciate and respect their wives too. I often thought, if the shoe were reversed, would I be the same.
Grump, is Smokey still with us, or has he left for Doggie Heaven.

Smokey 1 and Smokey 2 are waiting for the  10-75 with  St Peter. Their assignment card  shows them to re locate to E10L10 for training on 9-11. They met a lot of their brothers that that day. Both dogs loved a sip of Jack Daniels.

I too kept a couple of dogs, I finally got my Dalmatians about 5 yrs ago. I got the two from a Dalmatian rescue group just north of Myrtle Beach SC., The male "Elliot" was found near dead from starvation and neglect. He took a little time to get used to me but became Dad's "boy". It was last year, when he succumbed to the result of his devastating former life, (besides being old) and he went on to the Station above to keep the other brothers company.

Maggie, our other Dal.,  is still with us and quite the gal, annoying the Jack Russel that lives next door as a cool pastime. She was found stray too, but being a female had been bred a time or two, and as a result was in better shape than Elliot. She has been to the station a time or two with me, and I pictured she and I together on my campaign flyer when I recently ran for fire commissioner last November. She is well cared for and happy now as part of a "fire family", and fits the role meeting kids well when brought for fire prevention week.  :D ;)

If any of you are interested in "rescuing" a Dalmatian, Just message me, and I'll be glad to put you in touch with the folks that helped me find mine. :D :D
