How far beyond is beyond?

This is only 1 mile away from the zoo yet 1.8 miles from Belmont Ave

The Wallace Ave Job was 0.7 Miles from the zoo & again 1.8 miles from Belmont

I can see what you mean though between the 2 post

By "beyond the zoo" I refer to that area east of Bronx Park East, south of Pelham Pkwy S., north of Neil Ave, and west of Mathews Ave. This was the traditional 2d due area of L38. I should have been more precise.
L38 ran 2d due here to Es 90, 88, 97, 61, 62 (to the north a bit) and even 45 and 48 back in the day.

I did some research looking at boxes L38 has gone to in those areas and I see what you mean.

Some of those boxes are 2nd Due some Fast

Sounds like they in fact did get in 1st due

B18 to fire sector (B20): we're sending L58 up to to relieve L41

L41 delayed? Even with no traffic at that time of night doubtful that 38 could beat them into that box.

Seem to remember, when I was in 48 Engine, we had two 3rd due 3200 boxes where Fordham Rd turns into Pelham Pkwy @ Boston Rd...... I remember going to Bolton St and Pelham Pkway S, Thwaites Pl was another name I remember.... not sure of the box numbers or actual location

L38 was 2d due at both of these boxes...don't know if BARB took them away.

Once upon a time, this current box 3211, E48 was third due. The pull box was located at White Plains Rd at Pelham Parkway S. It was the last box going east to which E48 responded from their former quarters. E48 also went 3d due to 3400, Pelham Pkwy N. at Bronx Park E. All before they moved to their new quarters in the 1980s. L38 2d due as well.

Worth a mention, L41 1st due to this entire area of discussion.
