Bronx 10-75 Box 2128 fire in a vacant dwelling -about an hour ago

Location - BROOK AVE at E 135 ST

  I know this is Monday mornin' quarterbacking but, this job was just 50-65 ft. east of Willis Avenue but was assigned to Box 2128 which is almost 600 ft. away when there was Box 2136 at Willis & 136th that was less than 200 ft. away. ??? >:( Also TL17 was not immediately available then assigned as the FAST Truck then had to be put to work because a tower ladder was needed urgently, hmmm... ???
 
  I happen to have an old "War Years" assignment card for Box 2128.

Assignment very close to the card.  Difference L42 was second due, and previously second due L17 was the Fast Truck.  On the engine side no E40, instead Squad 41.  Looks like E40 was disbanded.

Yes, but having lived my entire childhood (buffing since 1958) then worked for another 34 years in that neighborhood, I know that Box 2136 at Willis & 136 would've bought E60 & TL17 in first due. There is a hydrant right at the NE corner of Willis & 135 that E60 would've hit before E83 and like I said before the building is right off the corner.

I believe that says E41, which became Squad 41.  E40 is in Manhattan.
 
 Listening to the Audio, you see that I was right in my post above that E60 would get in there first and give the 10-75.
 
G-man, what are you hmmmming about?? There are times when you don't always get the exact box number, depending on the address put in the computer.

As far as 17 going in FAST, if they weren't available right of the bat, that happens. It's not uncommon to have a FAST truck get put to work on arrival and S/C another truck. Just another day in the Bronx.

  You're right Jim, I'm older now and not as sharp as before ;) :-X
 
17 truck was not the fast... 14 truck was initially the fast, but when the 14 requested 2 T/L's they were redesignated for that and L55 was made Fast.. 17 was unfortunately on City Island because 53 truck didn't get they're rig back from the shops from PMP at the run time.... By the time 17 became available it was already at PWH....

Yes, the old eyes had trouble at night reading the card.  Easier to see in the morning!!!
