Im not sure of the date but there was a major fire here in 2003 and all of the Yonkers fd was there and Mount Vernon , Pelham , and New Rochelle and FDNY what companies from the FDNY operated here ?

This fire was on March 16th 2003.  It was actually the second major fire Yonkers had in a three day period.  The other fire was two days earlier in the Nodine Hill section, which took out an entire block and killed two.  Not sure if I am totally correct with who was there but I think these were the following companies:  Engines 38,63,69,75,45,94 72 and Sat 2  Ladders 30,41, 51 B/C's 15,18,19 Div 7 Field Comm. Anyone please put any other companies in that I may have forgotten or gotten wrong.

Dillon,

This is ancient news...but just for the historical record...are you sure about E69 and L30 at that incident? More likely... E62...and L39.

No, it was 69 and 30. There was a miscommunication between the Bronx SFAD and the Manhattan SFAD. They were intended to be relocators and ended up going to the job. No big deal and I bet they were happy.

I happened to be working that day as an FAD in the Bronx. We got a call from one of our bosses asking if we had anything going on in Woodlawn. At the time the only thing we had was a brush fire by the Bronx CO along the Amtrak line beside Tremont and East 180. A few hours later is when we got the call requesting Mutual Aid. I don't remember off hand how many Westchester Departments got called in on MA before we got the call, and it was about 15-20 minutes before we got the OK to send companies.

Sat-2 had LDH running across Nereid Avenue to I think 63 Engine who was feeding either 51 or 41 Truck. 39 Truck was originally supposed to relocate to YFD Station 13 and act as L-73, but I forget if they were turned around or sent into the job. I forget who the Engine was that was originally sent to act as E-313, might have been 38, I forget.

56 Truck also got in on the initial request for Mutual Aid. The now retired member of FDNY Communications brass is a well known 75 Engine buff, so it must have been a thrill for him to be standing on Bronx River Road buffing the fire and then seeing 75 and the 19 coming up the block.

Could that well known buff maybe be our own "Atlas" ?

-In addition to those FDNY units sent to BxRvRd, another contingent of rigs was sent into the City as this was winding down. YFD did a recall to man reserve Engines and Trucks, and in middle of  this , another working fire came in in 306's 1st due area, so another request for FDNY was added. The incident ended up being handled by YFD reserve rigs, and that NY assignment was sent to YFD HQ to stand by. When we picked up and went to HQ, I do remember seeing L-38, TL-44(?) E-42......etc(4x2 and BC) backed into our house. They were 10-8'd shortly thereafter with our thanx.

-Also, Oak street job caused 4-Deaths. (and yes-248 on JH)

MM, Ladder-38 was definitely part of the TF later on, as they were riding thru Getty Square playing "Charge" thru the speakers, lol !

Charge

........Usually TL-71 is found in Square playing over loudspeaker !

Alittle bit of a side note regarding Ladder 38 with the Charge tune. I was at the Rock and ladder 38 was returning back to their quarters. They saw me taking rig shots and played that song for me. It was music to my ears. What a Class Outfit.

And you're probadly right there John about J.H.
