Naugatuck, Ct has a population of about 32,500 people all living in an area of about 16.5 square miles.
It has been awhile since I've been there, but as I remember it is a typical old New England city with old factory buildings and lots of large old wood frame multiple dwellings.
With plenty of hills to make fighting fires there even more difficult.
Then I read posted above that the Naugatuck Fire Department consist of only 2 Engine companies - with an officer and 2 firefighters, and 1 Truck company - with only 2 Firefighters on duty for each shift.
A very tough job to be an on duty member when something like this, or maybe an occupied dwelling fire comes in.
To the Brothers and Sisters of the Naugatuck, Ct Fire Department, "I salute you for the job you do"
