That is actually called Highland Park there. In my 24 years in that neighborhood I think we responded there twice and not for any sizeable fire. Back then it was a little more upscale area.

The Highland Blvd area off the Interboro Pkwy is one of the highest land points in NYC......most roads leading up to the peak height area are long & gradual however Miller Ave from Jamaica Ave going up the hill is extremely steep ......The Job used to evaluate prospective new model Rigs making the climb....many bldgs in the area have various heights between front & rear......the old Highland Park / Ridgewood Reservoir was placed up there to provide pressure to flow water down....

The 5 story building at the corner of Highland and Miller, when on the roof, gave you a chance to pretty much see all of eastern Queens and alot of Brooklyn. That Building being on a hill had 7 stories in the rear and 5 on Highland Blvd.. The ride down Miller was a good check of how well the brakes worked. Before the ladder lock was put on newer rigs, our TCU American La France didn't have one, the fly ladder would have extended about 2 feet by the time we hit Jamaica Ave.. If anybody remembers Tufano's meat market on Stone Ave. and Hull St., the owner Mr. Tufano lived up on Highland Blvd. in one of the upscale homes. We were regular customers there for the meat in our meals.

I always thought 286/135 had 3rd or 4th due boxes in Highland Park. As a kid in the 80's I remember them consistently running up 66th street to Cooper and then over the Cypress Hills St hill and into Brooklyn.
