Engine 71 take bravo 2 exposure

Still working on the primary searches, bulk of the fire knocked down in original dwelling, still heavy fire in the rear exposures but not extending

Partial collapse of the delta, exterior attack, fire in the garages have been knocked down

Why was this not a 2nd Alarm? You cannot play catch-up all the time. You must be proactive about seeing to it that if things get out of control you have enough units on the scene. Reflex time is the time from the time you call units to the scene to the time the units are on the scene and going to WORK. When I was working on occasion as an Acting Battalion Chief in FDNY the famous FDNY Deputy Chief Vincent Dunn said to me "If the fire is not fully under control and you (as a Chief) have no units standing right next to you ready to go to work you have already screwed up."
