Looks  like a contract for 300 units.
Options for
50 4x4
50 medium duty (haztac)
50 rescue medics

Will have to read over it some more.

Will this expand how many rescue medics and has tac units are in service

Raises a question in my mind about the last batch.  How are the Dodges holding up?  Do the EMT's like them as well (or maybe better) than the Fords?  Haven't seen a single mention of them on this site (other than a picture or two when they first went into service).

Contract with Dodge was cancelled after 1st batch due to engine issues with the Hemi's supposedly. The remaining ones are F-350/450's.......

I hadn't heard that, did the remaining ones still have the extended cabs like the Dodge's did?

I heard that FDNY has several Dodges that are just sitting around that never went into service, anyone hear that also?

I don't see the haztac or rescues expanding.
Remember this contract is over several years and they have to account for spares, reserves and accidents.

Looks to be a new box layout.  Large 02 in the side compartment where the backboards are currently.
Extra compartments on the outside, chevron stripes and Blackbox unit.

Wheeled coach was only bidder.

The City had Wheeled Coaches back in the early 80's, then went to Horton in '85 and then some others through the years. Wheeled coach side compartment floors tended to rot out from the salt on the roads in winter and if that didn't do the job, the loose tire chains did. A lot of electrical problems with the Horton's which were on a GMC chassis.

Of course, the Wheeled Coach unit from the 80s are radically different from those made today so it is really hard to compare.  Does FDNY specify Ez-on automatic tire chains for their ambulances these days?  Any word of these will be four-wheel-drive?

Looks like possibly 50.

FDNY doesn't spec automatic chains.

There is an option for 50 4x4 at $235,235 per unit
300 Normal units at $231,968
50 Rescue / Haztac $279,023
50 Demo Medium duty units $249,473

I think they can take some or all of the items. So they could scrap the 4x4 or the demo medium duty units, or something like that.

What do they mean by: Demo Medium duty units?  Normally when you see demo for someone like that it means demonstrator but I'm sure they don't have 50 demonstrator units laying around for sale.

Does that (Medium duty) mean larger?  Our local FD (and almost all of the other FDs in the area) have stopped buying rigs like the Ford F550 and are instead getting units with a larger box mounted on an International or Freightliner chassis.  They've been doing this for 10 years or so. Here's an example:

Yes there was a provision to buy up to 50 medium duty ambulances not sure what size they speced out for it but I'm guessing something like what's posted above. They want to see if buying a heavyier duty ends up being cheaper in the long run when the maintenance cost come into play

If that's a Rescue Medic unit, will HazTac ambulances be receiving similar ones? It doesn't say Rescue Medics or HazTac on it, just the HazTac symbol which was on both for the older ones.

If you look closely, it says "Rescue Medics" in white lettering at the top of the windshield.  It was more obvious before I reduced the size of the photo so I could post it on this site.
