hi again

My mistake. in the book New York City firetrucks it says that it was collapse 3(1983), mobile medical station(1983), hazmat 1(1982)

Sp need some pictures of the cab from front, officers side and drivers side from either the mobile medical station or collapse 3

thanx

FDNY had two rescue-style rigs from ALF with essentially the same cab.  The first was registration #AR8201, which was assigned to Rescue 2 from Feb 1983 until Jun 1991.  It was then rebuilt by Saulsbury, with a Mack MR chassis.  The second was registration #AH8301, which was originally assigned as HazMat 1, then converted into a collapse rescue (assigned to R3), then rebuilt by the shops into a spare rescue during 1995.

The two rigs could be distinguished because the '82 (R2's rig) had 2 forward sloping windows on the officer's side and one window on the driver's side, all near the top of the main rescue body, and no side entrance door(s).  The '83 rig had no windows in the rescue body, but had a crew entrance door on the officer's side at the very front of the box.  The 1st & 3rd photos above appear to be the '83, while the center one appears to be the '82. You can see the crew entrance door on the '83 in the photo in kfd274's link.

I believe the ALF Collapse rig became the Putnam County Haz Mat rig after being removed from service at FDNY.

In R1Smokeater's post it shows R2 at the quarters of E-210. Was R2 in E-210's quarters before Bergen St?

It looks like a single bay firehouse. Did they fit the engine and the rescue rig in the same firehouse?

"Kidfrm", yes G-man is right. I think earlier on in this "My Younger Buff Years", like page 1,2,or 3, I mentioned how I rode with Rescue 2 back in 1968. They were with Eng 210 on Carlton Ave. It was really my first introduction to the FDNY. After that I was "hooked". A Great Experience that I will NEVER forget. I my be wrong, but I think the firehouse that Rescue 2 is in now, might have been occupied by Engine 234 before they moved. Maybe somebody can verify that if its correct.

Yes, Rescue usually in front and Engine 210 behind it.

Yes, their Bergen St. firehouse was E234's old home before they moved to St. John's Pl. with L123.

Present quarters of R2 used to be Engine 234 and Batt 38.  Ladder 123 at that time was in with Engine 227.

I believe the firehouse on Jay Street housed Ladder 110, not Ladder 118.

L 118  occupied the Jay St. Quarters   6/08/01 to 10/22/29

L110 did not arrive until 6/26/49 and remained there until 6/12/72 when they moved to 172 Tillary St.

So R2 followed L118, as listed, and preceeded L110.
