Subject: Passing of Captain John Galvin

Watkins Street regrets to inform you that former Watkins Street member Captain John Galvin has passed away due to WTC illness. He served the FDNY for 32 years starting in E231 in 1970 and spending more than a decade on Watkins Street during the "War Years" serving in E231, B44, and L120. In 1981 he was promoted to lieutenant and assigned to E239. After about another decade in that rank he was promoted to Captain and assigned to B21 and finished out his distinguished career in Divison 8 retiring in 2002. His son Captain Rob Galvin has followed in his fathers footsteps and is assigned to Division 8- Bureau of Operations. Captain John Galvin's brother is also a former Watkins Street member, Thomas Galvin, with a distinguished career retiring as the Chief of Training. Please keep the Galvin family in your thoughts and prayers.

It is with great sorrow that I announce the passing of New York City Fire Department (FDNY) Lieutenant (Ret.) William J Baaden, 84. Lt. Baaden’s last assignment was Engine 97 in The Bronx. There will be a graveside service on Thursday, 5/6 (at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery (Hawthorne, NY). Active and retired members of the FDNY and New York State Police are encouraged to attend in full dress uniform. This post will be updated with a time. Thank you.

On 1-29-21 at 83 yrs of age in Jacksonville Beach Florida (Services already held) ....RET 5-24-83 after 20 yrs OTJ ....Don was a USMC Veteran & spent the FDNY War Years in BKLYN NY.....an aggressive & knowledgeable FF who also always had a joke or impersonation to lighten the mood.....after Promo to LT Don was assigned to BN*13 & spent time in R*3 & LAD*23. ........REST IN PEACE BROTHER.....THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE BOTH MILITARY (USMC) & FDNY....
