RET FF MATTHEW PRESTON LAD*27....  "Matty passed away this afternoon after a brief illness, he was 82 years old. Came on the job in 1962 and was appointed to E-64.....after 2 years he transferred to E-46 where he spent the next 13 years before crossing the floor to 27 in 1977. Spent the next 12 years in 27 Truck before retiring in 1989 with 25 years on the job. Absolute Gentleman! Rest In Peace Matty."

That?s Matty Preston, not Pearson. His older brother Sammy Preston, retired E79, passed away some years ago. Both fine gentlemen and long time friends. Heart heavy. RIP.

(Did the Dept. Order say ?Pearson?? Either way thanks for posting. A group of friends were wondering about the arrangements.)

FF Ray O?Connor (retired Rescue 1 and decorated World War 2 veteran) passed away on the morning of Tuesday, August 13, 2020.

"It is with regret that we announce the death of one of our FDNY Retiree Broward Division members and Board member, Raymond O?Connor, who passed on Tuesday, August 13th, 2019. Ray was a decorated member of Rescue 1, a survivor of the 23rd St. fire, started in L45, and retired from the FDNY in 1962. Ray also served valiantly in the Navy during WWII.
A funeral mass will be Saturday, August 17th 2019 at 0930hrs.
