Scott Fischer, who is a frequent poster on this website, was appointed as an Honorary Battalion Chief in the FDNY, at a ceremony at the Fire Academy on Thursday evening, November 15th. This was for his continuing work in documenting the history of FDNY apparatus, including registration numbers and unit assignments, going back to the earliest rigs. Also appointed as FDNY Honorary Battalion Chiefs that evening were NY State Supreme Court Justice Bruce Balter and Grace Hightower De Niro (wife of Robert De Niro) for their continuing efforts that benefit the FDNY and its members.
