Dec. 5, 2009 ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (CBS 3) Eyewitness News has learned that police in Atlantic City are working to identify a man's body discovered in the wake of a fire on the boardwalk at Central Pier.
The fire, which was in a building previously damaged by a multi-alarm blaze in November, was placed under control after 5 p.m. Saturday.
Atlantic County Medial Examiner's will perform an autopsy on Sunday to determine the cause of death of the unidentified individual.
Police report, two other people were found under the pier and transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center. One was treated and released; the other is being treated for smoke inhalation.
Atlantic City prosecutor Ted Housel stated, the fire may have been started by homeless people seeking warmth.
The identity of the other two individuals found under the pier is not being released at this time.
