Mayor Laesch and Chief McCabe have supported cuts in the department of 18 firefighters, 3 Battalion Chiefs, 1 Training officer, and 2 companies. Both have stated this will not compromise safety. Local 99 firmly opposes this.

This is strange for a city that is slowly growing.

It seems to be more important to the voters that people that are in town illegally be well cared for.
