Do Rescue and Squad get sent on all Auto accidents, freeway etc, or just on Auto accidents with reported Pin/Auto Extrication?

i think it might depend on the brough cause i remember hearing RSQ4 getting called to a motor vehicle accident but then there was a motor vehicle accident in manhattan and the bronx and the RSQ's dident get called out

They only respond if there is a Reported Pin and its only the Rescue, but if there is a pin they get a Squad to respond in.

With the report of a pin rescue is called. If the pin is confirmed then a squad is assigned.

The normal response for an MVA is a single engine and a truck (5-7 signal)
On report of a pin job, rescue and a Battalion are assigned (5-7 signal special call Rescue so-and-so and the blah-blah Battalion)
On confirmation of a pin job, Squad is assigned, and if necessary a 2nd truck is called.

For highway jobs (both car fire and MVA), the minimum response is 2 and 2 (1 from each direction) plus Battalion.  Reports of pin jobs get Rescue.

Oftentimes I've heard HazMat or HazTec units get special called to truck incidents due to their large tanks.

Occasionally (although not often) Squad or a SOC Support Truck may be assigned if a Rescue is unavailable.  Once in a while I hear Squad 288 get called out on Queen's dozens of highways.

Jarrod -- re vehicle accidents with person(s) reported trapped:

FDNY assigns an engine, a ladder (all have hydraulic tools), and a battalion chief.  A squad may be assigned if it is the first due engine for that location.  A rescue is assigned in selected battalion areas i.e. those reasonably close to the rescue e.g. Rescue 3 in the Bronx goes to Battalions 17, 18, 19, 26, but not other Bronx or Manhattan battalions.

If entrapment is confirmed, a rescue and a squad are dispatched if not assigned earlier.  A SOC Support Ladder is assigned if the first-due rescue and squad are not available.  In the Rockaway section of Queens, because of the distances for the squads and rescues, a second ladder is assigned.
