A slow hand salute to Major Thomas Griffith, a B-25 bombadier/navigator on Doolittles raid on Tokyo on April 1942. 80 aircrew members from 16 B-25's left the USS Hornet on a mission to Japan. They had to lauch early because of a possible early detection from enemy vessels. This resulted in all aircraft making ditchings in the China Sea or onto the  mainland. Several aircrew members were captured by the Japanese, 3 were executed. Chinese population sheltered the down aircrews, many Chinese were executed by the Japanese for helping the enemy. Thank you for putting your ass, along with 80 other aircrew members to give the US a shot in the arm when it needed it.  To those who have flown we have reached out and touched the face of God
