Baltimore City FD interim change in Interior Fire Attack

Haven’t been able to validate this, but coming from reliable sources. Interim order regarding refraining from interior operations at well involved structure fires. Obviously a dramatic reaction after losing 5 members in 24 months. IMG_6784.jpeg

This seems like a massive overreaction. Yes, I have suffered some significant losses recently but obviously there training and OP's have worked in the past and will continue to work. I'm just wondering if publicly posting this change in policy will have an effect on their ISO rating?

ISO do not involve the issue of tactics. It is mostly checking paper work for water, apparatus, and communication assets.

This order may be CYA in anticipation of the NIOSH report on the South Stricker Street fire.

These row houses are at least 100-125 years old;
probably cheaply built and poorly maintained over the decades. Rapid fire spread and structural failure are common.

BCFD should have a large institutional experience with how fires behave in them. These buildings are the classic " a snake under every rock". In his publications, Francis Brannigan is clear on how treacherous they can be.

Not sure they were cheaply built but agree with the maintenance issue over the years. Poor leadership in the upper ranks coupled with terrible budgets over the last decade has terrible consequences. I agree that the memo was lawyer generated.

The Local 734 office is the former quarters of Engine Company 37 (established May 27, 1910) at 1202 Ridgely Street- between Pigtown and the Raven's Stadium.
