Correct. Normally, Battalion 74 wouldn't exist. FDNY Battalions only go up as high as 58.

In Rescue Me, the character Chief Feinberg was Battalion 73.

74Bn is in the Qtrs of Bn47 for the Storm.

Battalions in the 70 series are spares. They are activated when extra chiefs are pressed into service. The same is true for divisions in the 20 series, engines in the 500 series, and ladders in the 700 series.

BN*74 is still operating in the Rockaways & has been since superstorm sandy.....i am not positive but they may now respond out of 266.

I would say at the very least until all the utuility problems are cleared up....right now the re activated gas lines are having problems due to water freezing in the pipes.....also the damaged sea walls & breached  natural sand berms in several areas loan themselves to re flooding in another surge.....the Task Force continues to stage at 329 also....better safe than sorry.
