The special call for a Blitzfire monitor at the 5th in Queens the other day got me thinking. What are the advantages and disadvantages of the Blitzfire monitor when compared to the Multiversal? Weight and maneuverability are the obvious 1st advantage. But is the Blitzfire really comparable to the Multiversal?

Blitzfire also has an oscillating feature which the multiversal does not. Easier to set up than a multiversal. Two of the departments I am in have had Blizfires for a while now.

Very comparable, but I know someone mentioned not on all engine companies yesterday. Specialty companies like Haztech engines, etc.

My current and (former) departments used the blitzfire as standard equipment on all engine companies. We service a rural area with some areas of little to no water available other than the responding tankers (tenders). So we use the Blitzfire for a heavy knockdown potential with limited manpower until the troops arrive. I am a fan of the product and its application.

Blitzfire flows up to 500 GPM. Multiversal can flow 600-800-1000 GPM depending on tip size selected. Blitzfire is supplied with a single 2-1/2 line. Thus it can be moved around like a 2-1/2 line with a 20 pound nozzle and can be operated by a single fireman without having to fight nozzle reaction. So you have a highly mobile 500 GPM master stream
