We regret to pass on that Firefighter Martin Tremblay, 43, died in the Line of Duty while operating at a dwelling fire in Boischatel, near Quebec City, as a member of the Boischatel / L’Ange-Gardien Fire Department
Firefighter Tremblay, who also worked for Quebec City, the father of three daughters, was fighting the dwelling fire 2330 hours last night when the structure collapsed, trapping him under the rubble. He was pronounced dead after being taken to hospital. The fire began in the garage before quickly spreading to the rest of the house.
The Quebec City Fire Department and the Laval Firefighters Association offered their support to the friends and family members of the victim and to all volunteer firefighters of the Boischatel Fire Department for the loss. The Québec provincial major crimes unit has opened an investigation to shed light on the events leading up to his death.
This is the second Quebec Firefighter to lose his life during an operation in the past two months.
Pierre Lacroix of the Montreal fire department drowned the night of Oct. 17 after the rescue boat he was in capsized and he became trapped underneath it. Much more to follow. Our condolences to all those affected. Rest In Peace.
