Boston Globe Report: Plenty of firefighters, but where are the fires?

No BFD runs a all red helmet, BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Ps u live @ the ass end of E-49 or E-51 still district and it is your house. Where the hell was BFD and my tax bucks!! Well first due is coming from a suburb! Thanx for the politicians!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will admit, D-11 Brighton and D-12 Rosindale/West Roxbury  are not "war years" companies. But they are seperated from a nearest tuck company, E-51 is either L-11 or L14 engines are 29 and 41 Covering houses are 33/15, or 37/26, RIT is E42 D-12 is L-28 , 48/28, and 53/16 or 52/29. RIT is ?PS There could me an instance when first due is a mutual aid/nearby suburban house. Your tax money for fire service, someone else is there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wanna see a bean counter dispute this. Yes sprinklers have had a great supression effect in high raises, including resendential and office buildings. And many BFD runs downtown, with E33/L15, E37/L26, E7/17, and also E8/L1, E4/L24, and E10/TL3 are constantly busy during the day time on "Central Station Alarm". All it takes is one situaiton. Check out radioreference.com.Out of mind with these mopes until it is your house, then it is "Where the hell were you" Do ot want to hear the rap about EMS runs, OK.

Maybe, just maybe someone should hold a proposition 2 1/2 impact class for these folks and the then following series of proposition 2 1/2 overrides and show them in dollars and cents just how much additional monies were spent on fire damages and injuries to people and understaffed first responders.  Now this is just my opinion however you will be hard pressed to find any major municipal with sufficient staffing as well as sufficient staffed companies.

There were many more working fires and multiples during the "war years" in Boston, as everywhere else, but BFD is actually much busier today than they were in the 1970s.  Mid 1070s 58K responses vs 2012 72K responses (see below).  And BFD already has had significant unit reductions and reduced manning since abnormally high ""war years" activity.  The Boston Globe article misleads by noting only 40 multiple alarms last year.  The number of working fires was significantly higher than the erroneous 40 published.  This is typical Boston Globe BS, possibly fed by the bean counter fire commissioner who is hopefully on his way out.
