Today is the 95th anniversary of the Boston Molasses disaster. A tank holding over 2 million gallons of molasses ruptured @ Commercial Avenuenear North End Park. Tank was located next to the berth of E-31. Thehouse was demolished resulting in the death of FF George Layhe, as well as 19 civilians. Box 1234 transmitted @ 1240 and the second at 1245. A second box was also trasmitted @ 1253, Box1211. E-31 was temporarily relocated to E-47 in East Boston. Back in the old days the old timers would swear on a humid day you could still smell the molasses.
