Thanks. I was guessing on the marine unit, just based on where the boat was, in shallow water. They had 1 pic of the boat sitting on what looked like a sand bar.

Absurd. Boats get stuck on sandbars all the time. No marine radio or cell phone on board? Ridiculous to have all these units dispatched.

Spent some time on Jamaica Bay sandbars....one night was at 0400 & due in Williamsburg at 0900.

Looking at the picture again, if its where I think, it's not a true sandbar but rocks. I've hit that area once before in my grandparents boat and it chewed up both props on a 31' uniflite pretty good. And we weren't moving that fast. If this person was moving pretty good, he could have put a hole in the boat or gotten someone hurt.

Not terrible if you have a cooler!

This location is the Rockaway Inlet, at the end of the Peninsula, just past the jetty. There are shoals there. Heavily trafficked area.
