SPRING VALLEY – The Spring Valley Fire Department was dispatched to 118 Lake Street just after 4:00 a.m. for a reported house fire. Additional reports indicated that at least nine people were trapped on the second floor of the multi-family house.

Several victims were transported to local hospitals and the Rockland County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene along with the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI). Communications have revealed that four to six victims perished in the fire.
The Rockland County Technical Rescue Team staged at the fire training center and awaited further instructions at approximately 7:20 a.m.

In addition to Spring Valley, the Hillcrest, Monsey, Nanuet, Suffern, and New City fire departments were involved in the operation.

The deadly fire comes almost exactly two years after a Spring Valley firefighter and resident of Evergreen Court Home for Adults died in a fire a little more than a block away from Saturday’s fire.

The pictures on CBS it appears like there was a fire escape on the building. It was reported that 3 families lived there.

I used to live like 8 blocks from there. Ironically enough I was back in town for a wedding and drive past this area yesterday afternoon. That’s a bad area for fires. Right streets cars parked everywhere. It’s around the corner from where Jared Loyd died a few years back.

Many of us have been predicting this for a long time now. The Ramapo building department is rife with corruption and the target of many ongoing state and federal investigations.
Rockland as a whole has been ripe with corruption for decades. It goes back as far as Gribbetz the old DA. SV is also super super corrupt as well. Always has been always will be

Yes Dave you are correct. Sad Rockland isn’t even close to being the same as it used be.
