Description Of Incident: Companies o/s reporting fire in a unit of a 2.5-story wood-frame "L"-shaped condominium complex w/extension to adjoining unit. 2 L/S/O's w/Ladder Companies opening up. Quick k/d. All hands working. All searches negative w/no injuries reported.
Units Operating: BFD; BPD; AMR

Exceptionally long run for first due Ladder, L 5.  Too bad E 16 is not allowed to fully use their quint.

  Maybe you remember, when Engine 16s firehouse was built, it was supposed to house Engine 9, 16, and add a full ladder company. As you know, that didn't happen and Engine 9 was closed and the new truck company never came about. This Quint (Eng 16) was bought hoping to do both jobs with no increase in manning. Four guys and one rig to do the job of 12 guys and three rigs.

  John, I do believe that issue came up one time before. There was talk that if it went in second or third due, it would go in as a truck co but that also meant sending another engine co to replace it. Maybe getting Engine 3.
