For those who are unfamiliar with Brockton, it's a very busy New England city in terms of fire load and activity. Situated south of Boston, between Beantown and Cape Cod, the city consists of over 94,000 people living in 21.5 square miles. A tough town and the 7th largest city in Mass., Brockton was the home of Rocky Marciano and is also one of the windiest cities in the U.S. Apparently, the average wind speed up there is over 14 MPH.
The Brockton Fire Department currently runs 5 Engines, 3 Ladders, and 1 Squad out of 6 Fire Stations. In 1941, Brockton Fire was unfortunately and tragically made famous when on 3/10/41, 13 firefighters were killed when the roof of a burning theater collapsed on them. The BFD does around 20,000 runs a year.
