Brockton MA 5-3411 (delayed 10-26)

The great firefighters of the Boston area are keeping busy these days. Back about when Leo Stapleton was Boston Fire Commissioner and Chief of Department, the assignments for multiple alarms in Boston were changed. Each additional alarm above the 1st alarm brought a smaller number of units than had been assigned on each alarm. The concept was perhaps that the chief would get a few additional units on each alarm, not too much and not too little, so the alarms would give the I.C. a precise number of units for the fire he/she was dealing with = greater flexibility in getting just the right number of units for the fire. Perhaps our brothers or the "Sparks" from the Boston area can give us some information about just when this change happened. Captain Bob Rainey FDNY Engine 26 retired.
