Massive Georgia resin plant blaze forces evacuation, stay-at-home orders for city of Brunswick and St. Simons Island resort

A plastic resin plant in Brunswick, Ga. caught fire Saturday morning, prompting a shelter-in-place order and later an evacuation order for those living within a half-mile radius of the plant.

We were driving on 95 from Jacksonville to Brunswick. Saw the massive black smoke miles away. When we arrived at our hotel, we were only two miles from the scene. They brought in assistance from as far away as Jacksonville and Savannah. Got it out by Sunday morning.
