California & Oregon Fires

Well, I'll admit to being a weather nut. After all, that's what i did for 21 years with the Air Force . . . I was "the weather guy". And even now, 36 years after I retired, I still follow the weather closely, which means I access weather data frequently. But even with more than 55 years in the field, I have NEVER seen anything even remotely close to this picture. It is from the West Coast GOES weather satellite, taken at 9:10 PM Eastern time tonight, 9 Sep 2020. The orange-tinted masses you see are not clouds. They are SMOKE from the California and Oregon wildfires. Let's all say a prayer for all of the folks on the west coast who are having to deal with these fires, especially those men and women who are out fighting them. I think they need it.
