Chicago has a 2-11 fire @ 5039 W Lake on the city's West Side. Squad 7, a 2 piece rescue and snorkel unit company was s/c. Unit is normally stationed @ O'Hare. Fire in a 300 x 100 commercial building fully involved. The CTA elevated runs on this street. If I remember there are a series of one story buildings, mostly vacant.

The Lake Street Elevated Railroad opened on November 6, 1893.

There were two firehouses on West Lake Street further in town whose company's responded to the Great Chicago Fire in 1871.

Engine 17 at 80 W. Lake St. built in 1864 during the Civil War. It closed on 1/16/1968 and was the last standing firehouse from the Great Fire; torn down in October, 1979.

Engine 12 at 611 W. Lake St.; built in 1866 with CPD's "Union Park Station". A handball court was added in the 1920's. Engine 12 relocated to 107's quarters on W. 13th St. on 1/17/64. The house was razed four months later.
Because of it's central location, Engine 12 showed up to respond or relocate on almost every running assignment card in Chicago.

Coincidentally, E17 at 80 W Lake St was originally E12's house, which was originally volunteer E4.

a little more history on E-12 and 17. E-12 relocated as you say to E-107 on 1-17-64, then to E-95 on 8-13-65. Dis-banded 12-14-65. Re-organized on 11-1-1981 @ Crash Station 2 @ O'Hare. E-17 dis-banded 1-16-1968 .Because it was no longer an active company its designation was then used in "Backdraft".
