Chicago Fire Dept refused the first snorkel, Bedford Park, just south of Midway purchased it.

As Grump said, rig was purcahsed first purchased by Chicago, however the truck chassis was too wide

Also i think Chicago had ordered the 1955 FWD wooden aerials then refused them & the FDNY bought them .....that is the reason why after having metal aerials we wound up w/some more wooden ones in between.
