Chicago LODD

A 44 year old man has bee arrested and faces two counts of murder and aggravated arson. The fire had been extinguised when the garage collapsed critically injuring Captain Meyer who later died at the hospital. OFI and ATF officials determined that the suspect had lit the contents of a trash bin which extended to the garage. Citizens reported that there had been a number of similar incidents over the best several moths.

Brothers and sisters always remember just because you outside the fire building/area a collapse or other failure can still happen. A few years ago, another Chicago Firefighter was killed when a building collapsed hit a tree and the tree fell on the firefighter killing him. Last year in Greenwood Lake New York a tree in a burned-out area fell killing a NY State Wilderness firefighter, and another tree, in a burn out area fell and just missed damaging a Chester N.Y. Engine Company with two members inside. "Beware of Collapse Zones and SECONDARY COLLAPSE ZONES."
