The contract for the Collapse-Rescues is advertised in The City Record. It is for 7 trucks, based on 4-door commercial chassis. They will have PTO generators and air compressors.

Is the bid for new collapse rescue rigs or squad’s second pieces ? The original post said collapse rigs . And if the bid is actually for squad second pieces ….i got ask ..where is Sq 1, 18 ,& 252 going to keep them ….because 4 door crew cabs won’t fit in their firehouses.

SQ18 fit a HMTU inside there house before, and I want to say SQ252 had the spare before and that’s longer

I haven’t been in either of those firehouse in a while ….but from what I recall it’s very tight.

252's house is not that deep so I don't think a 2nd piece larger than the one they have now would make it

This is from the bid docs-85724B0034 – 2300140 TRUCK, COLLAPSE RESCUE - FDNY
COLLAPSE RESCUE APPARATUS, FOUR-DOOR CREW CAB 7. EACH
SINGLE REAR AXLE, AS DESCRIBED IN THE ATTACHED
FDNY SPECIFICATION REQ # 202117.

Anyone know the reason for 4-door cabs? Are they planning that if needed these could be stand alone units and not always be used with the parent company?

are the squad strategically placed or can they be swapped out with other engines, ladder companies that have more room so they can house their second piece or a larger apparatus?

I have attached the specs for the Collapse Rescues. The date for bid got change to march instead of February. Yes these are for 7 Rigs.
