I think a Congradulations is in order for the son of this site member "69mets". Garrett Jr was recently appointed as a career firefighter in Florida, after following in his fathers footsteps, a retired member of the FDNY. Garrett Jr apparently worked very hard to achive this goal. I believe he was required to put himself through both EMT school and the Florida Fire Recruit School in order to be considered for the job.

Best wishes Garrett for a safe and happy career. I think you made your father very proud and I'm sure there are many members on this site, who know you and will also be glad to hear the news.

Congrats to Garrett, Jr; Grandpa Bob ( Former Capt, E 248 and BC in Batt. 38) would be very proud.

Bill and John, I'm pretty sure Garretts Dad (Bob) was also a DC in the 15th.

Thanks Brothers for all of the kind words about my family as well as the good wishes for my son. I had the honor of pinning my son's badge on his uniform at his swearing in ceremony. The Chief of Department also made some nice remarks about Garrett being the third generation in his family to pursue a career as a Fireman. AND ... three legends of Rescue Co. 2 from the 'War Years', Marty McTigue, Lee Ielpi and Richy Evers, surprised us by attending the ceremony.

Congrats to both Garrett's,  I know Pops is proud of his son and I know Garrett will keep the tradition alive.  Stay low & Safe Garrett.
