First aired on PBS on November 4, 2019. The story of the South Bronx, it's people and it's firefighters during the so called: "FDNY War Years" of the 1970s.

As correctly pointed out, these problems were all created by government actions. Redlining was described as if it was bad. The problems was the government banned it for "social justice". Then it required banks to make loans and insurance companies to write policies in these areas if they wanted to keep their charters. Disaster ensued. It's hard to commit insurance fraud if you don't have insurance. In the 1980's Bill Clinton and his Secretary of Housing (a certain Mr. Cuomo) created another housing loan scandal again (only without the arson) nationwide at great cost to the taxpayers.

https://www.theguardian.com/cities/2015/may/18/welcome-to-fear-city-the-inside-story-of-new-yorks-civil-war-40-years-on    <<<<< this link gives a good synopsis of a dark time in NYC that should never be forgotten.... I think with all the things being dreamed up as of late like closing jails ...reducing or having NO bail...relaxing (or eliminating) not only Quality Of Life violations but some more serious violations ..... kissing criminal a$$ with promises of ball game tickets or other incentives just to get them to show up for a MANDATED court appearance ....coupled with the administration fostering disrespect of authority as well as showing little to no support of the Police ....etc.....etc....etc we could be returning to those days....the numbers may not show the rise as today the administration is much more devious in cooking the books concerning crime stats
