District offices

Looking at a 2011 Unit location chart and there is a heading for District Offices, such as District 3 @ Engine 26. Are they still around, if so what are their functions? Thanx.

Believe they used to be used for fire prevention. I remember when District Office 12 was in the quarters of E 281/ L 147, Had several light duty firefighters performing inspections.

The 15th Div. District Officer was on the 3rd fl. at Eng.277 before the truck came over. It had several old tImers led by a lieutenant. If you ever needed anything, they knew where to get it. Most of the offices are now at Metrotech with civilian inspectors. The 13 Div. District Office is still with Sq. 270 and the 13th Div. on 121 St.
