At least 18 children died in fire that killed dozens of worshippers gathered for Sunday morning mass at a church in Giza, greater Cairo on Sunday, according to hospital documents seen by CNN.

The blaze started on Sunday morning in the Abu Sifin church in the city of Giza, where up to 1,000 people had gathered. The fire blocked an entrance to the church, causing the stampede. The Interior Ministry said smoke inhalation was the main cause of death.

My first thought was that this was intentionally set. While it's not impossible that someone tampered with the wiring (I watch a lot of Law & Order and other crime dramas) it doesn't seem like something religious extremists would do. The church should have had extra exits. Reminds me of the locally famous Beverly Hills Supper Club where people were stuck inside and couldn't get out.
