Future expansion. Rigs get bigger and bigger every few years. Look at a Tower from the 60s/70s vs today. Makes perfect sense to oversize the floor. What could they possibly be trying to fit....unless the job is considering making 136 a tiller.
I doubt these rigs are going to get any bigger, slot of the current apparatus struggle on slot of streets depending on the areaFuture expansion. Rigs get bigger and bigger every few years. Look at a Tower from the 60s/70s vs today. Makes perfect sense to oversize the floor.
I understand that completely but they really dont have a choice. The manufacturers add inches every so often, which add up over time. Look at the difference between 70s 75 Mack/Baker vs today's 75 Seagrave. Its not an overnight thing, it happens over years and decades. Orlando FD bought a 70 platform to replace a 95 over by the Executive airport. There replacing that with a tiller, for the first time in about 40 years, because that area is so tight that the standard 95 platgorms they were using ( every tower was identical. 95 Sutphen SP) and now SPH 100s that they used exclusively, have a hard time.I doubt these rigs are going to get any bigger, slot of the current apparatus struggle on slot of streets depending on the area
