So NYS Thruway Authority send a letter out stating that emergency vehicles have to stop and pay tolls when responding to emergencies on the Thruway. They suggested that responders use EZ-Pass. A refund would later be issued.

This is right up there with the new 'Slavery' shoe shackle sneakers:

Your government in action.  Sheesh! >:( :o :(  Sounds like some nitwit from the TSA has moved to the Thruway Authority.

This is just absurd!  Of course if they just take a ticket and present it when they return they won't be charged anything because in most cases (especially outside of the city) they enter and exit at the same place.  Of course to do this they have to make a U turn which is illegal so the authority will probably ticket them for that!

Maybe they should just let the Authority provides their own fire and EMS services.

This happened in Mass about 8 yrs ago. Engine Co on a run, no one had change, the ever effecient toll booth attendent issued a ticket which took him 5 minutes to write. From what I understand companies now carry rolls of pennies, payback is great!

Ref the "Slavery Sneakers" where the fuck was Jesse "Illegimate father" Jackson and his crony from NY, Al Sharpton, no press I guess. How can you justify this to anyone, you went to college, paid 30,000 a year for four years = 120,000 bucks in loans. Then again you could become an Orthdox Jew, grow a beard, go to NYPD academy, piss off the bosses and now sue. I think the militia in Colorado has the right idea!

The whole thing with the Thruway sounds rediculous. If I read it right, it basically applies to emergency responders outside of their district. In Kentucky where I live now, we had nine limited access toll parkways at one time. All of the tolls have been removed now, but when they were up and an emergency vehicle was running hot, the toll booth operators would wave them on through.
