Tonight, Monday, at 10 p.m. PBS will televise the documentary Emergent City. The story revolves around the working-class enclave of Sunset Park and their fight against developers trying to rezone and "revitalize" the waterfront area of the onetime hub of shipping and manufacturing- Industry City. This classic urban dispute has been going on for over a decade. The only thing I know is that people there are probably still outraged since Robert Moses, over loud objections, put the Gowanus Expressway down Third Avenue.
Anyway, this program gets excellent reviews in the national media.
