Engine 202, Ladder 101

Thanks for posting this picture, Mike.  Our friend 69 Mets? father was a Lt in L 101.

Back in 'the Day'... I recall this particular Rig runnin' the streets of 'The Hook'/Gowanus,
'The Heights'/Downtown for Years during 'The Lean Years' of the Late 70's (Cutbacks/Lay-Offs);
I'm not real informed on the Particulars of this specific Truck; but if Memory Serves...This Truck
got Old in Brooklyn:

The old Quarters of E 202-L101 is also being used as home of Friends of Firefighters. A non profit organization that helps firefighters and families with problems. They were organized after 9-11 and bought the old building and with volunteers rebuilt the house to look like a working firehouse.
In this day with COVID 19 nightmare I?m sure they are needed more than ever.

Dad and the crew of L101, using E202's apparatus, were on BI or Hydrant Inspection when this fire occurred (As many of you are probably aware, at one time, the Truck Co. would switch apparatus with the Engine Co. when required to perform certain outdoor activities).

In the Miracle on 35th Street story, the MPO of E 202, Artie Leavitt, would later become a Lt at E 248 and his officer, Lt. Bob Lindgren, would become Capt of the same E 248.

I didn't realize that John, the name sounded familiar but I wasn't aware that he ended up in E248.
 
Another interesting thing in The Miracle on 35th Street story is the mention of the Aide to the Fire Commissioner.
He had a daughter who became quite a famous songwriter and singer.
Any guesses?

They were with their 1929 American LaFrance 75ft. stick. ;)
